Attack on America health and human services dispatches initial emergency personnel and supplies; September 11, 2001
This article was about what they did after the tragic event of 9/11 happened. Sec. Tommy G. Thompson sends these Disaster Medical Assistance Teams [DMAT's] out to the affected areas. Each team includes about 35 physicians, nurses and emergency technicians. In addition Sec. Thompson send 4 Disaster Mortuary Operational Response Teams [DMORT's] to New York and 3 to Washington D.C. On Tuesday the HHS continued working with the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the local health officials to see if they could assess medical needs and provide medical and emergency personnel. I Choose this article because i was interested in what it took to help the ones in need and that got hurt in the 9/11 terror attacks.
